Head Coach & Offensive Coordinator

Bio

Patrick Gregory is the sixth head coach in Islander football history, and he is entering his eighth season at helm of the Islander program. He brings with him a wealth of coaching and playing experience at all levels of football in Quebec, especially within the FQSE and the RSEQ. Under Gregory, the Islanders have boasted a winning record in each season since 2014. John Abbott appeared in back-to-back Bol d’Or Division 2 championship games in 2017 and 2018. The John Abbott staff has been named the Coaching Staff of the Year in RSEQ Division 2 twice (2014 and 2017) and the Islanders have been named the Most Sportsmanlike Team on three occasions (2015-17) during Gregory’s tenure. With Gregory at the helm, the program owns a 47-28 record entering the 2019 season, including a 7-7 record in the playoffs. Islander players have been named to the RSEQ Division 2 offensive or defensive all-star team 30 times since 2012. Prior to joining the Islanders, Gregory coached at the Quebec university level for 16 years, including seven years as the full-time offensive coordinator with the Université de Montréal Carabins. He joined the Carabins as they returned to U SPORTS football in 2002 and was part of the 2004 team that went 8-0 during their third year of existence. The Carabins have been a Vanier Cup contender ever since. He joined Concordia University Stingers staff in 1995 as the receiver coach and became the offensive coordinator in 2000. During his time with the Stingers, he made one Vanier Cup appearance in 1998 and saw many of the receivers he coached go on to professional careers. Before coaching at the university level, Gregory was an offensive assistant at Collège St-Jean, Champlain College (Lennoxville) and Selwyn House High School. In 1992, he was the head coach of the Black Panthers Thonon-les-Bains in France. Over the past 10 years, Coach Pat has also worked as the offensive coordinator with various summer teams including Team Québec, Team Canada and EMS as part of the Challenge Wilson. He has been a guest coach at CFL training camps for the BC Lions, Edmonton Eskimos and the Montreal Alouettes and twice was a visiting coach at the Cincinnati Bengals mini-camp. As a player, Gregory was a two-time CIAU All-Canadian as a receiver at Bishop’s University, playing under current Toronto Argonauts offensive coordinator Jacques Chapdelaine.
