The Cavaliers made a push in the 3rd quarter, but the Isles were able to hold them off to maintain a 67-60 lead heading into the 4th quarter. In the final quarter, the Isles continued their impressive team play to win the game with the final score of 95-82.

Hockey splits back to back home games
On Friday, the Islanders faced their longtime rivals in the Limoilou Titans. The girls started strong outshooting the opponent 12-4 in the first period. In the second period, the Islanders outshot Limoilou 9-5 but kept the score tied at 0-0. In the third period, Limoilou scored a lucky goal to take the lead. A few minutes later the Titans added another goal, the game finished 2-0 for Limoilou. For the first time, John Abbott outshot Limoilou 28-18.
On Saturday, the team faced Rimouski. The ladies had to bounce back from an emotional loss to Limoilou. They answered strong with a 10-2 win with 8 different goal scorers. This is the first time since the inception of the running time rule (+7 goal differential) that Abbott has achieved this feat. Laurie Hachez got 2 goals, 2 assists, Sena Catterall 3 assists, Andriana Calderone 1 goal, 1 assist, Ann-Frederik Naud 2 goals, 1 assist, Emma Piers 1 goal, 1 assist. Men’s Volleyball had a rough start to 2020
With 4 matches on Sunday, the Isles went 1-3. This drops them to 4th place overall in the league. The top 4 teams in the league all lost a game to a team ranked 5th or lower. It will be a big push towards the playoffs as the top 7 teams are within 4 games of each other.
All players saw action and the team in general showed good fight battling in every match. Untimely serving errors and some shaky decision making were ultimately the Isles undoing. Coach Ramgulam commented on his team’s struggles, “On the plus side these are all things that can be fixed over the next 9 weeks.”
Josh Christopher and Tyndall led the way on offence with 18 kills each, Xavier Orsat Parker had the most blocks with 6 and also led in +/- with a +11. Special shout out to James Lee for 2 aces on 19 serves with no misses!
